Phantoms' is an exciting interactive installation/ performance exhibition by Melbourne artist Michael Laws. Influenced by German expressionists, pop-surrealists and stencil art, 'Phantoms' allows the audience to interact and explore the work, discovering the memories, thoughts, ideas and fears that haunt the artist. Whilst referencing, in title, spirits and ghosts, the installation is primarily focussed on projecting the psyche, the intangible quality of the human mind and it's powerful ability to plague.
'Phantoms' uses light installation to investigate concepts of existence and mortality through a sharp and confronting use of darkness and space. Unique in medium and execution 'Phantoms' blurs the lines of installation, visual art and performance, an interactive piece that promises to reveal varying exclusive experiences for each and every participant.
