Nightmare on Swan Street II brings to the stage a show that seeks to send a chill up the spine, a jolt to the senses and a feast of unnerving delights to the eyes.
A joint venture between theatre makers Matto Lucas, Iris Gaillardine and Jason Cavanagh, they set out to discover how to make a truly scary, theatrical horror show.
‘We started by questioning what we ourselves find scary, and built the show from there, attempting to stay true to the genre, whilst adapting it to work in a theatrical environment. Something I’ve never seen done before. It’s been a fun process.” – Jason Cavanagh.
What resulted is a devised piece combining many different elements and influences from the campiness of Jacksons ‘Thriller’, to the camp fire stories told to children, the doom and gloom of the reality witnessed daily on the news, to the extreme gore projected onto cinema screens… all is considered and manipulated into a one hour theatre show.
