17th - 21st May

The moon as an object has often been the muse for artists throughout history, with many references scattered throughout both classical and contemporary works, think of Julia Gillards recent address to Congress, Carl Orf’s Carmina Burana or Shakespears A Mid Summer nights dream. Our aim is to re invent this object through a solo performance that will incorporate environmental stimulus, physical theatre, movement, verse and projected image. Propelling it into a modern setting made possible by the aid of new technology and sounds.

Part of Metamorphis Theatre Company’s key objective is to create positive social change through creative practice. LUMINA brings about this change, by offering an elusive pause from the normalcy and pressure of life.

LUMINA will be the 10th solo performance by Wolfgang Baas; it marks a turning point in his practice, with performances at places such as; Metro Arts, Brisbane Powerhouse, Gasworks Theatre and Kaye Sera’s Bizarre, over the last seven years. He throws away the need for heavy stimulus and complicated narrative for this is as much an exploration of intellectual possibilities as it as a celebration of the human bodies physical capabilities.
